Understanding QuickTime VR

The Photography

The experts at Under Watercolours have been creating QuickTime VR long before it became popular on web sites. Now we use specially configured digital cameras to shoot the scenes. We've done so many VRs around the world, that we know what it takes to put together the perfect panorama.

The Panorama

A fortunate side product of the QuickTime VR process is the panorama. Depending on the conditions in the scene shot, the lenses used, and the parameters use in the stitching process, the resulting panoramic can be as exciting as the finished movie.

The panoramic 2-D representation of the 360º scene is typically around 25 to 30 Mb in size making it perfect for print or display. Smaller versions can be created for web site use.

The Movie

The most popular use of the panoramic is the 360º interactive movie. Movies can be any size (typically 320x240 for web or 640x480 for CD ROM) and they can be output at just about any file size (typically around 200k). We will show you the best way to incorporate your VR movie into your web site or CD ROM project. You may purchase the panoramic image from us and make the movie yourself or we'll make the movie for you.

Making Movies into Interactive Tours

Once you discover the possibilities of QuickTime VR, you won't want to stop with just a single movie. Movies can be linked together with hot spots to construct the complete interactive tour.

Shooting from the inside out is not the only way to shoot QuickTime VR. Object VR can display a three dimensional object or product from all angles. Movement of object pieces is also possible and offers a great way to demonstrate your product online. More info...
